Candid Photography

To rewind, another example for last week topic, "Panning in Photography". This photo was clicked at VGP Theme park, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

I did a continuous focus on the people who ride in the roller coaster. Continuous focus is a setting that we have to set in the camera before try for panning

This week we are going to cover "Candid photography". In candid, we try to click the picture more natural the way the people behave normally. The behavior of the people/subject changes when they to come to know that they are been clicked through the camera. We should make the people comfortable so that they behave naturally when we click the photo

The below photo was taken in Mahabalipuram, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India  where two kids are playing in the slide made of rock near lord Krishna's butter ball

Panning in Photography

To recap, another example for last week topic "Texture in Photography". This photo was shot at beach in Mahabalipuram, chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

This week topic is going to be "Panning in Photography". This is a technique where we focus the moving object and click the photo which should reveal that the object is moving with the gazed background to give the  feel of the movement. Take a look at this picture

This shot was taken in Marina beach, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. There are lot of activities generally happening in the service road near the beach. In this picture I did a continuous focus on the moving object (person riding the bike) with the background (people protesting for a specific cause) gazed. The intention of shooting this photo is to convey that even though there is a protest happening, the person riding the bike is not worried or bothered about it. With the focus techniques in photography, it is very handy to convey the meaning what we intend to share

Texture in Photography

To recap, here is another example for last week's topic "Pattern in Photography"

The topic that we are going to discuss this week is "Texture in Photography". The dictionary definition of texture is "The distinctive physical composition or structure of something, especially with respect to the size, shape, and arrangement of its parts". In simple terms, texture of the object/material will expose the granular details of the tiny particles that the object is compose of. In the below image, I have tried to shown the texture of the cloth of different colors

Pattern in Photography

To recap, here is another example for last week's topic "Scale in Photography"

The above photo was clicked in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India at Brihadeeswarar Temple (also known as "Thanjai Periya Koyil"). Worshippers of lord shiva are shown small to give importance to the kumbam (Kalasha or the bulbous structure on the top) of the historic temple.

Pattern in Photography

The topic that we are going to discuss this week is "Pattern in photography". Same objects when organized together in some fashion creates a pattern to our eyes. The pattern can be usual or unusual. When we click the unusual pattern through the camera, it looks more aesthetic even though there is no story around it.

The above photo was clicked at the entrance of Golden beach Theme Park, Chennai. There are series of similar elephant statues standing close to each other which creates a pattern of elephant's face, tusk and trunk You would appreciate the unique look it gives which is not possible with single object/statue.
